Menlo Park, CA - Katerra, a technology company redefining the construction industry, today announced a design consortium made up of individuals from four award-winning design firms. Consortium members will collaborate closely with Katerra, regularly providing feedback as the company develops and expands its portfolio of products and design tools. The design consortium members include:
· Michael Green of Michael Green Architecture, a North American-based firm internationally known for its leadership and expertise in building with advanced wood products and technologies.
· Ted Flato of Lake|Flato, an architectural firm based in Texas known for its modern and environmentally responsible design.
· Joe Greco of Lord Aeck Sargent, a national firm known for responsive design—creating enduring, elegant solutions for complex building types that have a positive effect on the building’s inhabitants and often, a regenerative impact on the environment.
· Andrea Leers of Leers Weinzapfel Associates, a Boston-based firm known for its complex commissions that intersect architecture, urban design, and infrastructure.
“We are thrilled to partner with these award-winning firms,” said Craig Curtis, president of Katerra Architecture. “The design consortium will help guide our design direction and solidify our commitment to being a design-forward company.”
Katerra is already working on a number of actual projects with members of the Design Consortium. This includes the design (in conjunction with Michael Green Architecture) and construction of the new Hospitality Center in association with the Community Cancer Fund, Ronald McDonald House and Kootenai Health (Walden House) in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The facility will house Ronald McDonald House families while their children are hospitalized in a home-away-from-home environment, as well as provide lodging for the Walden house adult outpatients and their families who are receiving treatment at the Kootenai Health facility. Furthermore, Katerra is working with Lake|Flato on a series of single family residences.
