As part of a strategic expansion within the Pacific Northwest U.S region, with a particular emphasis in Spokane, WA, Katerra today announced the acquisition of Nystrom Olson, a boutique architectural studio specializing in socially and environmentally sustainable modernist architecture. The two firms have worked closely together on projects over the last several months and this move will solidify a permanent partnership, as well as establish an official Spokane office presence, as Katerra’s architecture projects continue to scale up throughout the PNW and beyond.
"We are very excited about this new venture and what it means not only for our studio, but for the community of Spokane as well," said Sam Nystrom, co-founder of Nystrom Olson. "We realized early in our relationship with Katerra that their singular vision was revolutionary and something we needed to be a part of."
“The experience and versatility of the Nystrom Olson team is a perfect fit for Katerra,” said Craig Curtis, Katerra’s head of architecture. "Their track record of bringing innovative design solutions to a broad spectrum of building types will be a huge asset as we pursue our mission of transforming architecture. We are incredibly excited to welcome them to the Katerra team.”
The new Katerra Spokane architecture office currently houses 12 employees, with plans to expand further in the months and years ahead. Additional ongoing Katerra partnerships in the Spokane area include McKinstry, Community Cancer Fund, and more.
